A Day at the Beach

So you may remember my “Coincidence?” post from a week ago. Well, on Thursday we took off from Turlock and headed on out to Santa Cruz. We had a great time in Santa Cruz. We did our usual trek down Pacific Avenue, which is a historic part of the city with a bunch of shops and restaurants.

We stopped to have lunch at our favorite little Burrito shop, Planet Fresh. If you’re ever in the area I highly recommend it. This is best little burrito shop around. So after we were done doing our thing on Pacific Avenue we went over to visit with Margie’s son and seeing that Margie’s mom lives in Watsonville which is a few miles out of Santa Cruz, so we planned on staying there for the night.

The next morning we headed out for Monterey and Carmel. We stopped off at the beach in Carmel and we were all blown away at how beautiful it was at the beach. The sky was shade of deep blue and the water was even more blue and very clear. I don’t think I have ever seen the water that clear. We walked around on the beach for quite some time, collected rocks and shells and I even brought home some ocean water in a mason jar. Man was that water cold, but it felt so nice once you got use to it.

From the beach we went on to Fisherman’s Wharf in Monterey. Well again we meandered around the shops and ended up having lunch at Abalonetti’s Seafood Restaurant, a quaint little restaurant right there on the wharf. What can I say? Wow, what great food. The best thing was their Buffalo Calamari and Clam Chowder in a Sourdough bread bowl.

From Fisherman’s Wharf we went to Cannery Row and bummed around there for a bit, looking at the shops and what-not. All in all we had a wonderful time. It was great to get away for awhile.
